I am looking for an original barrel for this gun. Where to find? THe gun was purchased by my dad in the 70's, and the original barrel had a what I'm guessing to be a poly choke welded on to it. When he bought the gun he had a replacement barrel put on, but it doesn't look to me like replacement barrel is even made for the gun. There is just something about It that looks goofy. I want an original barrel for it that is not reblued, I want the original pitina on it. Anybody know where I can find one?

Try Gun Parts in West Hurley NY. (The old Numrich Arms.) Is your M-97 a take down or a solid frame? The barrels may differ. Most M-97s left the factory with 28, 30 or 32 inch barrels. I think the most common was the 30". The Poly choke was a very popular item to have on a barrel up to the 1980s.

If you ever get the hankering to make your 97 into a riot gun do not cut the barrel to 18". M-97 riot guns were all 20" and actually measure out to 20 3/4" unlike the common 18" see today on riot guns.

Hats off to you for wanting to restore an old "corn shucker" . The M-97 is a true American Classic.
