I've inherited a 1200 police stainless, I'd like to learn more about it. I can't find much on the internet, any help would be appreciated!

JH1961. Thank you for your reply. I have found newer ones for sale, I believe the one I have is a 1967.

No one was making a stainless steel shotgun in 1967. However, Winchester WAS making stainless barrels for their .264 Winchester Magnum and .220 Swift-chambered rifles. Smith and Wesson made the first stainless handgun, the Model 60 in the late 1960s. It was very popular in Vietnam.

Do you know if Winchester ss numbers will give the manufacturer date? I think I've learned more about it from your knowledge than anywhere else. Thank you. I was able to look up the production date of my safety hammerless that way.

I'm sure someone on here can help. However, Winchester ceased manufacturing most of their firearms several years back, and have only recently (to my knowledge) resumed limited production. I don't know what records were retained or by whom.

Here is Winchester's current email contact information. Good luck! 👍
