the MOST recoil. I have degenerative disc disease in my neck plus a bad rt. shoulder (rt. handed)
I'm going to a gun show this weekend to pick up a HD 12 ga. and I know some are available with recoil absorbing stocks. So which one do you guys think is best for my situation?
Gotta leave now will check thread tomorrow for your opinions.....thanks in advance!!

Not sure if I would say it is the "most" recoil, but, I have a Mossberg 500 12 ga. The stock is an ATI 6 position adjustable stock. I just added a "Stinger" recoil absorbing butt-pad and it was (surprisingly) a huge improvement.

The reports on the ATI recoil absorbing stock are pretty good as well.

I hear that "Limbsaver" also has a recoil absorbing butt-pad that people like pretty good.

If you have the circumstances noted, I may want to suggest a 20ga with the recoil reducing stock / butt-pad.
If you have those medical conditions is there any overwhelming reason that you are looking at a 12ga? There are probably other options that would serve you much better.
Yah for I would say the best for absorbing recoil is a different gun choice. Take a look into a 20g.
I'm a rather skinny guy and my Mosin was beating the crap out of my bony clavicle lol... came up with a odd solution that works very well. I took an old gel bicycle seat cover and attached it to a shirt that I can wear under a jacket, feels like shooting a .22 lr now, might be something worth tinkering around with and perfecting though... the gel on those is thick and bulky. I got that idea from someone mentioning padded shooting shirts.
The Knoxx stocks by Blackhawk are supposed to be good, but they make them for some of the popular LE/Military shotguns and rifles.

Its fine when I'm standing, and it tucks in like you said... but the range I go to has tables and when you're seated there it positions you where you have to have your shoulder forward and in, which pushes the butt of the rifle against your clavicle.

Get a rifle for HD instead. Much easier recoil, just as effective on goblins.

I'd recommend an AR, a Mini-14, or a M-1 carbine. Other good choices would include a .357/.38 lever gun.
As others have said, a smaller gauge shotgun will be easier on your neck.

But if you're determined to go with a 12 gauge, besides stocks (like the Knoxx) that help reduce recoil, there are various shells that are reduced recoil, yet still powerful enough for home defense.

I have personally shot Hornady's blue hull low recoil 12 gauge 00Buck and I swear it was like shooting a 410. great shells, but finding them is often difficult and ordering them online when you can find them is almost a must.

And remington has "managed recoil" buckshot and slugs (as seen here:

Thanks......

Thanks folks for your inputs........I have to drive over 40 mi. to get to the closest show and it isn't huge ( 250 tables ) so selection is often limited.
I agree with going to the 20ga. with a combo of modified stock and the lower recoil shells might just do it with the added plus that the wife MIGHT could handle it too. Although it will be hard to get her away from her night stand favorite...a S&W 686+, 4 in. with a custom trigger job.
Thanks again to all who replied.......I appreciate you!
