I used an older (1978) Wingmaster with a shortened barrel, extended mag and LED light for home SD, 00 buck, stored in a 'ShotLock' in BR closet.

18 inch Mossberg 500 but when it gets ugly the FN SLP is gonna make some noise

No need for it up here in the woods. He11, I don't even lock my doors.
I do however keep a 44Mag lever gun loaded at all times. It's basically for shooting meat Deer but I suppose it could double for self defence if push came to shove.

Lots of folks out in the boonies are murdered and raped by crazies

It depends on where I am, there is a loaded 22 MAG in the barn. It dealt with several coyotes, and countless woodchucks, and raccoons. There is a loaded Rem 700, 30-06 in our kitchen for the better reach to the coyotes and deer at the end of the property. There is something to say about taking a deer from the back deck while standing in your jammies. There is an old 870 police loaded in the bedroom, and my wife has a 9mm and my 1911 is never unloaded.

I'm not skeered,,,, I got me some Zombie bullets.

The last reported murder in my town was the 40's. The old farmer that lives next door,( relatively speaking), hasnt locked his doors in over 60 years. His house is over a half mile from me. Could someone take it upon themselves to leave the city and try their luck out in the sticks, with criminal intent? Of course, but everyone I know out here owns a gun, most criminals want the easy score. Muggings? get serious, where would they wait for a target?

Out here on the coast there's no where that safe. We got illegal aliens and meth cookers in the woods

Hopefully this time tomorrow I will have a Mossberg 500 20gauge for the range and HD. I have a Smith and Wesson M&P 40c and my wife has a S&W Model 642 stainless. I think we have it covered for now.

That's to bad, but not suprising.
I feel for ya, but don't tell me there's "nowhere that's safe" when you really mean "you're not safe".
Me,,,, I never lock my doors (whether I'm home or not) and sleep like a baby.

Anyway,,,, all that crap aside, my only two shotguns are a SXS and an O/U, and my only handguns are rimfire revolvers, so I better stay right here.
