I am not sure if this is what you are looking for or not, but here are a couple that I have seen.

Another option would be the slightly strange looking Springfield M6 Scout.

It's a .22/.410 break action of very slim design (I'd guess no more than 1" wide) so it can be carried easily in a backpack. Weighs next to nothing.

Next time I'm at my dad's I'll check what his is. It's a 20ga/.223, all black with synthetic stocks. It's actually quite nice for clays, besides being a single shot. Would probably be good for youth hunters, .223 first shot, 20 gauge shot for the next.

I still do not see quite what he had his was all steel I think. It was very plain jane. This guy was old so who knows how old it was.

That's the Springfield M6 I mentioned before. I have one - good rifle, can't go wrong.

Actually it is not sawed off that is the way they were originally made for the Air Force were they were to be survival rifles for downed pilots. If you notice the barrel are rough the same length as the stock thus when folded in half the gun is very compact for storage. They later had to make a 18 inch barrel version to make it legal for civilian ownership.

I have a Baikal Russian made shotgun/rifle combo. 222 Remington over a 12 gauge barrel with choke tubes. A great turkey and varmint set-up. The 222 barrel is pretty accurate, too.

Sorta heavy and clunky, but it is definately functional and it has its applications. They were made in several caliber/gauge combos. Dad has one in 30-30 over a 20 gauge.
