hello , I have just arrived, seeking advise, on a 12 gauge tach semi auto shotgun and
one that you can purchase mag extensions,
would luv a spas 12 , but afraid of buying a well used burned out one, please post

I bought the grandson a used early model 8 shot Mossberg 930 defense shotgun, not the SPX, a couple years ago and just recently found a 26" barrel to replace the 18.5" barrel it came with so that he can use it for bird hunting which is really why I wanted him to have a semi auto in the first place. There are several after market mag tube extensions available for the 930 models.
After smoothing out a couple minor things it's been working reliably with both high and low brass shells and I think it will be a great shotgun for small fast flying birds and secondly as a defense firearm.

If you have SPAS12 money then just get a Beretta 1301 tactical. If you want to kick it up notch, get the Langdon Tactical version.

...Or if you're dead set on a "convertible" (semi & pump action) tactical 12ga shotgun like the SPAS12, I highly recommend the Benelli M3.

If shooting semi only, Beretta's 1301 Tactical or Benelli's M4 are the top two (IMHO). If you want a good pump action only, Fabarm's STF-12, Mossberg's 500 / 590, or a Remington 870 would fit the bill nicely, especially in a tactical setup with ext mag tubes.
