I have an 870 Express Tactical fitted with a side saddle and a Surefire 318LM. It's shown in this picture with a Hogue pistol grip, but I don't like shooting it that way. The factory fixed stock is OK, but it's very long and it pounds the snot out of you firing 3" buckshot loads.

Question: What are some of the best options for an AR-style collapsible stock that includes a pistol grip and a recoil reduction damper?

If you're looking for AR style then Koxx Spec Ops is pretty much the best, unless you want to go the more expensive route and piece together your own with an AR adapter, your choice of pistol grip, tube, and stock.

I have the recoil reducing spec ops stock with the pistol grip and I really like it. I got it off amazon for about $100. It's way easier on the shoulder than the OEM stock, although it did take som time to break in. Some people don't like the pistol grip, but it feels more comfortable and easier to control the weapon to me.

Was doing a bit more research and found this post by MikeCal and I really like the looks of that Magpul stock. I can't find much info on the Enidine buffer yet so am still learning.

Dont. I'm not a brand snob but I've had and heard bad experiences with ATI. I have a CAA stock on my work shotty for 3 years and it has been great.

The Knoxx stock is nice, and I feel that it does reduce felt recoil. My problem with it, though, is that for whatever reason, I get smacked in the cheek when I use it. And yes, I've tried it many times, even under the direction of professional trainers, and yes, still, it gets me: from what I've been told, it just does that to some people.

There's also a non-recoil-reducing version of the same, for those who just like to change the length-of-pull.

One thing that is important to keep in mind for any of these stocks is that like mbquimby said, even though we might not be "brand snobs," there are real considerations - i.e. if you're using a bead or fixed sights, can you actually get a proper cheek-weld/sight-picture, with the replacement stock? one gentleman in the shotgun class I attended found out that he actually couldn't get lined up on his sights because his aftermarket stock prevented him from doing so.

After much reading and a good education here, I have decided to go with what MikeCal did. I ordered a Mesa Tactical Low Tube Adapter, an Enidine Shot Shock buffer and a Magpul CTR & MIAD. Costs a little more, but gives me the look and functionality I want.

That's only an issue for me when I tried firing from a table top. I wonder if a vertical fore-grip would help with that further?

the best stock hands down would be the mesa tactical with the recoil buffer, but be prepared to spend at least $300.
I run the mesa tactical urbino with a limbsaver pad and wouldn't trade it for any other stock available.
