Love mine. About as light as a shotgun can be. I have the reg 887 too. It passed the extreme torture test from last year's dear hunting season, so I picked up the tac for HD. Not too many aftermarket options though. The tac, IMHO is fine rite off the shelf. You will love how the WHOLE trigger assy drops right out making cleaning a breeze.

Again, IMHO
still might pick one up. Im still trying to see what else I like abut that right now is at the top of the list
for $400 I'd definitely get it.

They are a little tight and need loosening up at first. This is normal. pick up a box of 50/100 count cheap Federal birdshot, and let er' rip. This will break it in good. @ $400, you will not be dissapointed IMHO.
thank you for the imput. i came across a 870 18inch for @ 350. im having a hard time between the two
do you REAAAALLY want to shoot 3 1/2's? ****, I don't even like shooting 3" honestly. I don't think you're gonna take a tactical shotgun goosehunting so it's kind of pointless to shoot the big magnums in it.

I'd say get the 870. Huge aftermarket, it's cheaper so you can get an assortment of shells to try in it.

887 is 2-3/4, 3, and 3-1/2 ;)
Got mine for $435 otd and I love it. I know the 870 has a huge aftermarket selection but my 887 tac is great just the way it is. The only thing I would like is a side saddle.
I have seen the 887 on sale for $349.00 at Dick's Sporting Goods from time to time. Plus Dick's will price match!!
I bought my wife one and it has performed flawlessly. I have read some reviews that were not very favorable but this one has had no issues.
She really like the fiber optic and the light weight. Even with the light weight the recoil is very manageable and my wife is sensitive to too much recoil with her fibromyalgia(sp?).
It is already set up the way she likes so I am not to worried about aftermarket stuff for it. Probably add a shell holder of some type and sling.
I had one that I took in on trade, and didn't have it long. Felt cheap, they are not very light (imo) and that aftermarket support is non-existant. Go with the 870, you don't need 3.5" magnums for HD, you need more shells in the tube (2.75") I got rid of it shortly after. I'll stick with my 18" 870 for HD, and the Nova for the 3.5" shells if a black bear wants to start beef
Ok, I must ask after a few posted replies above. You guys do know you can shoot 2-3/4 shells in a 3-1/2" receiver right? Maybe I'm just not reading the replies correctly?  Please, no offense, but I had to ask.
Yeah the only thing you have to watch out for with that (shooting 2.75" out of a 3.5" capable gun) is on semi-autos, sometimes the 2.75's won't cycle the action!
