Can anyone recommend a good a 7-shot mag extension, light, and light mount for my 870? I have an 18" barrel.

I did a search for this and was hoping for more info.

I really like the Tac Star mag extension. That's what I use. Shorter than most and built solid. I run a surefire M69 front end with a Streamlight TLR-1 mounted
at front, underside. This setup has never failed me.

Just in case you didn't know.

  • With an 18" barrel a 2 shot extension is flush. That gives you a total of 6 rounds, or 6+1 to confuse you.

  • With an 18.5" barrel a 3 shot extension is flush. That gives you a total of 7 rounds, or 7+1.This always confused me when I got in to the shotgun world, so I thought I would post this first.

How do you like your stock? That's a Choate, correct? I have thought about getting one, but have read some things about other Choate stocks that made me uneasy about it.

Yep, it's a Choate. I've heard the same things you have I'm sure, but I got to handle this before I bought it and I approved. The finger groves actually fit my hand unlike most AR grips and Glocks. I like being able to adjust the length with the spacers, while still having a solid butt stock. The cheek weld is also spot on. I will use this stock on all my shotguns until I find a different fixed stock that looks cool and works perfect for me.

Good to know, thanks for the info.
I've got a Scattergun Tech +2 on my 870 with a 18.25" barrel; it's almost flush, but not quite...

I like it quite a bit.

Remington use to put 18.125' barrels on the 870. Now the newer ones have 18.5' barrels. The factory +2 tube extension extends 3/8' past the muzzle on the older 18.125" barrels and it is flush with the muzzle on the newer 18.5" barrels. All after market +2 tube extensions are made for the older barrel length and will be 3/8" shorter than the muzzle on the newer 18.5" barrel. Like the Scattergun Tech +2 extension Cuda66 has on his 870.

Cuda66 measure your barrel by sticking a rod or dowel down inside on a closed bolt, unloaded of coarse. I would be will to bet you have a 18.5" barrel.
