pistol grip/ATI mossberg stock

2394 Views 7 Replies 1 Participant Last post by  ShotgunPro
So lately I've been wanting a pistol grip Mossy, well I just figured out how to remove the ATI 6 position stock, leaving behind only the pistol grip on the shotty. Has anyone else done this? The back sticks out a little more than the designated pistol grip ones do because of the mounting slot for the stock, but it looks alright. I'm just hoping this does not break some law somehow, though I dont see how it could if it is legal to buy a pistol grip shotgun. How does the law regarding shotguns work, is it 18" min barrel, and it can have a stock or not? Or is it an overall length thing too?

it has to be over 26" but it should be. just measure to double check
I'm just curious, have you tried shooting a shotgun without a stock? I liked the idea of a nice compact little home defense shotgun, like one of those mossberg 500 "Just in Case" guns. One of my buddies had one and I got all excited to try it. That excitment lasted till that first shot. I usually can find something enjoyable about every gun I shoot, but not for a shotgun without a stock.

A shotty without a stock ... Can SUCK

If you want that short maneuverable pistol grip style ... Get one of these -

Knoxx Recoil Solutions - It's the best thing I've ever bought for a shotty ... Expensive, YES !! ... But try shooting a few slugs with one of these and then try the same without recoil management ... You'll wonder why you ever decided to punish yourself with that old style pistol grip.

They also make this

A shotty might look cool with just a pistol grip ... But why punish yourself

oh yea they do hurt but you get used to it pretty fast.
i have a 14" mossberg AOW that i shoot fairly regularly and its not bad to shoot anymore. after a little while you will find a way to shoot it without it hurting. i shoot slugs out of mine and other 3" magnum loads and it is FUN

You really should think about getting a mount for you AR to attach your AOW underneath...talk about a lethal combo.
sourpatch45, if you can enjoy shooting 3" shells from a pistol grip shotty, than you are more man than I am! Nice looking combo you got there.

Every ex-recoil addict I have ever met ... Did not stop being a recoil addict by choice ;)
