When the SHTF... I'm a believer in a shotgun. I have a Mossy 500, 20" barrel side saddle plus a bandolier loaded with slugs and buckshot.

What would be your best choice for a shotgun? I like my Mossy and she has always gone bang for 20 years now... but???

My pick would be a 930 SPX...

Personally, I really like my FN TPS. I've tried to justify selling/trading it off over the years but I just love the thing. Being based on a Win 1300 and then beefed up, the thing is built like a tank. I can cycle through its 7 shells pretty darn quick and it hits what I aim at. I could easily say I'd trust my life to it should things go south.

On a side note, I really my Stoeger SxS 12 ga as well. It really gives me a sense of confidence being so simple. Two barrels, two triggers. It's my "go to" home defense gun as its much easier to move around than the TPS

Both very, very nice choices... one is unatainable and I don't know about the reliability of the other...

just saying...
as for the reliability of the saiga-12 I polished my bolt/carrier and fcg and now it eats everything I feed it through the m.d. Arms drum, agp gen 2 10 rounders, factory 5 and 8 round mags...and you can mix and match ammo :) just sayin

What ever you pick, if you plan on trusting your life with it you need to train with it.Anyone can shoot ,but using your shotgun efficiently under stress is a different world all together.

The best possible advise I can give is pick a shotgun, pick a good sling,go ahead and deck it out with all the tacticool BS stuff you can hang on it to make it look cool, and then go take a tactical shotgun training course. You will find out very quickly whats what. The courses I take 3 or 4 times a year are day or night,5 hours each, 250 rounds per course, and ya get beat up a little :)

My personal choice is a 20" 590A1 w/ ghost ring sight,Speed Feed stock, side saddle,Spec Ops patrol sling,Laserlyte mount for the TLR1s,and a pokey thing just in case I run out of ammo :D

I like my 590A1...8+1 capacity...rugged and reliable...shoots everything it's fed...and even has a bayonet lug in case things get close and personal. I have the 20" model with ghost ring sights...still trying to find a stock for it (have a speedfeed and a knox nrs model...really want to try the mesa tactical stock adaptor and set it up exactly like my ar with magpul furniture)

A man just can't limit himself to one shottie, it just ain't right

I have a nice tacticool Saiga12.
I'm very familiar with it and confident in it's and my abilities for home/property defense.

However, right now I'm in the market for either a Rem 870 or a Mossberg 500.
I want a decent pump for two reasons, the ability to change out barrels, e.g. 28" vent rib with dual beads for shooting clays and an 18" home defense barrel.

And on my wish list are, Mossberg 590A1 SPX and a good entry level O/U , e.g. Mossberg Silver Reserve 12g/28".
