well the gun show was a bust..... everything was skyrocket HIGH prices.. and they had next to nothing on feed for our children... i.e. bullets/ammo whatnot..
extremeley dissappointed, hadn't been to a show in years, and i kid you NOT, it was the same guys at this show from years before, down to the same exact spot!! bananas!!
anyways I digress... back to my predicament..
the ONLY thing I found worthy or should I say that has me tempted is one guy had an ol a$$ Winchester 1897!!! Pump-action shotgun.. I tried researching it on google and found info on it but wanted to some "live" feedback... the serial number pegs it as from 1906.. so its a bit beat up....ney... actually its more asthetic I should say.. wouldn't call it rust but its about 106 years old so the metals NOT shiny... pumping/working the action goes good not sticky or anything like that..
The best way I can describe it to you guys is that Its basically the equivalent of the mossy JIC version.. i.e. short pistol grip type.. so I would say somebody chopped off the stock and maybe some of the barrel as well? I haven't seen one like it yet online..
guy is asking $300....after drooling over it for an hour or so and going back repeatably to it.....almost to the point of p*ssing the guy/owner off(he tried yelling at me for taking it apart because I was working the barrel slot/pin, I of course FIRMLY held my ground and said I was NOT taking it apart)
but anyways....
what do u think fella's? I tried getting him down to $250 which I would of course just bought it.. but he wouldn't budge.... after heckling him som more, he said $280...
I am so tempted.. mainly want it for the joy of having a 100+ year piece of history, not too mention it jus looks bada$$, but hey google tells me the 1897 was beast of a gun, and chances are that it will still hold its own...
YOUR OPINIONS/INPUT is EXTREMELY WELCOME!!!
gun show ends in less then 8 hours...
to go back or NOT to go back....
remember I've NEVER OWNED much LESS FIRED a shotgun...so
to buy this piece of history or stick to my original plan of buying myself the mav 88 and the ALMIGHTY 590a1..
regards,
oNe
