It appears to be a semi-auto. What is the stock made of? Plastic? Or is it just a polyurathene coating? I know there were a lot of attempts to develope plastic/fiberglass stocks in the 40-50's with varrying degrees of success.

Lefever Nitro Special, 16 ga, 28" barrels, probably mod/full chokes, from 1928.
