What do you think just purchased my 500, was doing some function test and checking out barrel and noticed this? Not sure if its rust or not, or some machining fluid used when makinf barrel. Here are some pics.

Note this is the only part of the barrel that has this, the rest of the barrel is fine
Well just gone done using some solvent and a q tip first and nothing, be safe to use wire brush try and get this stuff off? Or should I even worry about it? You cant feel it with the touch

A brass wire brush should be fine to use, or even better if you've got some 3M scuff pads cut off a small piece & work it around. The 3M pads come in different grits, the grey is super fine & the red is a bit more course. Either should work fine.
Have you shot it yet? If not it may knock that little bit off after a couple of shots.
Don't let it worry you to bad. I know that's easier said than done on a new gun though!
It is rust, the whole gun is now worthless, i'll give you 100 bucks to rid your hands of it. :D:D:D

Seriously though, gets some Hoppe's or WD-40, and get to cleaning. Or, if you're like me, don't worry about it, and go shoot it.
Cool ill just get some wd 40 and the brush. Its it alright to scrub that one spot through the front of the barrel? Or do I have to get a long cleaning rod and go one direction or just through the front? Oh and no I haven't shot it yet

I bet if you take a paper towel, and some WD, it will come right off. The barrel is steel, it's strong, you can clean it with cloth, plastic brush, copper brush, brass brush, etc.

If you're really lazy, and don't want to clean it, shoot a few shotshells through it, and I bet that will do the trick.
