Added the Hogue Short L.O.P., Tri-rail forend, and Magpul AFG2.

CONGRATS! I have a Mossberg 590 with ghost ring sights and love it. Got in back in the '90s. Mine loosened up very nicely after a few range days. Wouldn't trade it for anything its been great. I eventually added a side saddle to it.

I had an AFG2 on my 870 for one shooting session. Just one. The lip on the front hurt my finger so bad that it had to go. They look cool and the ergonomics are good for cycling the action, but the lip and recoil of 00 buck was more than my finger could take.

Yeah I run the AFG on my ARs, but have yet to put any rounds through this rig. Figured the transition would be natural as far as the hold goes. I'll get out with it this weekend and see how it feels.

Same here,

I'd been lookin since January. Ran across a few of the 18.5" six shot models, but not the big boy. Had zero luck through all the local spots, their distributors, etc. Finally found this one on-line at Midwest Hunter's Outlet. Called to secure it and it was the last one they had in stock. As far as I know the 590a1 is still being produced for deployment with the military, so that may be what's causing the scarce availability to the public.

Got out with it this morning. Started raining on my way to the range, but I said SCREW IT and just got wet. Put 100 rounds 1 1/8oz Centurion slugs down-range and was blown away by the Ghost Ring sights. This gun is amazing!

This one was my first target at 50yds...



First shot hit the bottom line and I walked the rest up. Not too shabby for a 20" smooth bore. I love this gun!

Congrats on the new purchase. I picked up my 590A1 at cabelas a few months ago. I put a knoxx spec ops nrs stock on mine. Was thinking of trying the hogue out too when I get some extra loot (working on an AR build right now). I love taking it to the range. It turns a lot of heads. I had a bunch of county cops drooling over it. They had just received a bunch of 870's...they wished they had gotten mine (not saying the 870 is bad just the heavy barrel and 8+1 capacity is a definite selling point to the 590). It worked out well.

Felt very natural and didn't get in the way while working the action. Like I figured, it was an easy transition from my ARs. I did experience what you were talkin about with that front lip though. It caught me once, and that was enough for me to adjust my grip placement. After that it was easy goin...
