I just bought my first Mossberg, a 500 with the silver marine coating. I've only put 25 shells through it so far to start breaking it in and smoothing out the action. I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions as to what sort of lube would be best on this finish. It coats pretty much everything in and out except the tabs that hold shell in the tube, bolt face and bore. The bolt and the lifter and pretty much everything in the action is coated. The coating has a somewhat slickish property, especially where there has been any rubbing of parts.

It's a Mossberg. If you clean it, it breaks. :)

Check out Frog Lube. Or any normal CLP. Welcome.

I wouldn't do anything special to it. Wipe it off once in a while with an silicone rag, then wipe the excess off.

That's the reason you got the marine finish. Low maintenance.
