Hey, sorry in advance if this is in the wrong sub-forum. Not really sure where to post this.

I am new to this forum; I just bought my first gun yesterday! I am very excited to take it out to the range and try it out, but I have a couple questions about it. I know it is chambered for 12 gauge but it doesn't say the length, i.e. 2 3/4 or 2 5/8, etc. How do I determine this? Serial number is 119XXX. Barrel marking reads "Trade Mark -- Nickel Steel -- Winchester -- Mod.1912 -- 12GA. FULL." I am curious to know when it was made, what "model" of m12 it is, and so on.

I read that one should always take an older firearm to a gunsmith for an inspection to ensure it is still safe to shoot. Is this necessary in my case? The gun looks to be in great shape and all the moving parts seem to be working great.

Thanks so much for your help! I am very new to the world of firearms and need all the advice I can get.
