My new Shotty!

Nothing new to any of you shotgun fans out there, but I really wanted a HD/zombat shotty so I bought this 870 for 200 used. It only had 50 shells put through it... I think I got a good deal.

So now I need some sling suggestions and some shotty mod suggestions.

Pick up the police wooden furniture for it, throw a shell carrier on it and some trijicon ghost ring sights and it'll be killer.

Everytime I see a shotgun I want to get it. But damn things like diapers and water bills keep getting in the way.
Hmm I like the synthetic furniture on it, but the shell carrier is definitely in its future. The sights are last on the mod list if I even decide to change to the ring sights.

Im stumped on a good sling though, any ideas?
Im looking for a sling that will facilitate an easy transition to my xd when I run some drills. I might take it to a shotgun course in the future.
She's a beauty. you might want to look at some more threads. The mods topic has been covered quite a bit.
I'm hoping to pick an 870 up soon. If I find a deal like you did it will be much sooner. Good job!!
Yeah. i've been lookin around for the shotty related threads on here and found some good stuff.
Figured id share a pic of my new shotty before I shoot the crap out of it!
Leave it be other than the sights. Check out XS sights for some wicked winged tritium ghost ring night sights.......Nice pick. No go do some serious shooting and run some drills to get used to the action
Sounds like a good deal. For SD I would say add a flashlight, sling, ghost ring sights and a shell carrier on the stock.

Any suggestions on a sling...I've seen a lot of sling adaptors and such but don't know what type of sling will work well with my 870 and its use.Any one got any personal opinions on shotty slings?

Well, some guys like slings and some don't. I had a sling on for awhile and took it off. I found it just got in the way more than anything. The only reason for a sling is if you are going to be hiking around with it. For home defense there is really no point. You wouldn't want the sling to catch on a door knob or a lamp or something as you move through a dark room. It looks cool but serves no purpose at all for SD HD.

If I'm going hunting and will be hiking around the woods, sure I'll throw on my sling. Comes off at the house.
blackhawk makes a sling with shell holders along the side. never used it but looks sharp.
That was a great deal.

For HD a sling means that you can work with a XD and the shotty and switch back and forth for reloads etc.

I would not buy a sling with a shell carrier because of the pendulum effect with the weight.

I have the same setup with a Knoxx SpecOps Stock on the way with mountable shell carrier.

Ghost rings are next.
If you're in the market for a real shorty, go to Serbu Firearms

If your local chief will sign off on it and you can get through the FBI background check, it's only a $5 tax stamp from the feds. Check your state laws.

I haven't had good luck posting pictures, but I'll try again. This thing kicks like a mule and the 6 1/2 inch barrel sure is intimidating! If it doesn't post again for some reason, the little avatar is the same picture.
I give up. I put thepicture on Photobucket, it fits the size requirements, I uploaded and saved it and it still won't show. Terrible system!
Pendulum effect...keep the sling around your body, no flopping around, no pendulum.

You need to copy the direct link off photobucket. Then come here and click on that picture icon in the message box. A window will pop up. Right click and paste. Have you tried that?
it's good as is.

a bead site is plenty with a shotgun. If learned anything from shooting birds, it's all about the feel of the gun. Sure, looking down the barrel for the shot is one thing, but if you get a feel for it, it's like pointing a finger.

if you're using slugs, I reckon it's a little different, but buckshot, a bead is all you need.
Super shorty looks sweet, but only 3 rounds? I would hate to have a 4th guy come through the door and not be able to get to my XD45... Lol! J/k!
