Looking at this one:
Maverick 31046 88 12 20 CYL 8RD for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $196.00

I use to have a mossberg maverick field 88, I remember while I was looking for accessories that the pump handle/forend couldn't be removed and replaced. Is it true for this model as well? Not a big deal, I was planning on putting an integrated pump/flashlight mount, and if I can't I'll just mount it another way.

Anyone know if something like this will mount?
MOSSBERG SHOTGUN GRIP-LIGHT-LASER-TRI-RAIL FOREND-4R - eBay (item 350291344100 end time Mar-09-10 14:09:04 PST)

mavericks and the new synthetic mossberg 500's have two bars that go across the forend which makes it unable to be switched out for a different one.
Well, that sucks. Who at mossberg would think of that as an advantage?
dang that does suck I just ordered one of the 88's from buds last night but so far no plans t to replace the forend. I might find a way to attach a loop to it though to slip my hand through and keep a positive grip on it who knows.
Yep its true. I bought the knoxx stock kit for my 20" maverick, but could only switch out the buttstock, which I knew beforehand. Its a good gun for the money, although the action is not nearly as slick as say an 870
yeah I just want a 6 position collapseable buttstock for it they make rails for the front if I want to mount a light or something

hey out of curiosity does your 88 have two screws on top of the reciever? I want to mount a rail there too.
You can replace the forend with a Mossberg 500 action tube slide assembly, then use any mossberg forend you want.My little brother bought a mav 88 from a guy who jolly rigged a pistol grip forend on it with rivets...needless to say it snapped off,so we have to wait until he can afford the $40+ part.
^^dang that sucks big time..so the shotty is pretty much out of the game until fixed

? ? ? My new synthetic mossberg 500 is absolutely no trouble to change forends on. Maybe mine was an odd one idk I don't keep track of these things. Oh well I just switched it to wood anyway what do I care

huh, i read somewhere that the new synthetic 500's were using the same forend configuration as the maverick's. maybe i heard wrong.

So just replace the forend with a mossberg 500 action tube slide assembly? Considering the mossberg 500/persuader is 100 more this seems like a more economically viable option.
do any of you have Mossbergs 2010 Catalog? I just got it at a local shop and Maverick is going to have an Over Under 12ga! as well as 2 rifles under the maverick name in two models

regular rifles
short action: .308, .243
long action:.270, .30-06

The super bantam series: short action
.243
I just ordered the catalog - and downloaded the PDF version. Very nice! I've been wanting to get a maverick for a while now, and I just might get three now! The 88 Security - 8 shot version, the over/under, and that bolt action 30-06 - all look really nice! And I bet the price on them is pretty nice too :)

Yep,just get the slide tube assembly and a slide tube nut (like 5-7$)and your good to go for any mossberg 500 aftermarket forend.
