I got the knoxx stock... Great upgrade and the recoil doesn't even bother my wife anymore.... And she's like 100 lbs. lol

Single point sling.

Also picked up a shorty barrel from midway for HD... Have a long barrel with interchangable chokes and a slug barrel. All I want to do now is put some better sights on it.

I bought the Knoxx for my 500 just before they came out w/ Gen II. Does anybody know the difference? I've read good and bad things about both.
Post #8 speaks volumes to me about it.

Nutnfancy (Youtube guy) didn't like his. slapped him in the face unless it was fully extended or something like that. Heard other complaints too. I think on the Saiga forum.

Moss upgrades....

Change out the saftey for a metal one. I've had the plastic ones break.

Get a sling system going. Mine was Viking stock/sling atapter and front plate sling point. Those and the current 1 1/4" GI 2point sling. Simple.

I won't do the tactstar side saddle. Don't want to need allan wrenches to field strip the gun. Plus screws are cheap, so make new, quality flathead head screws if you must have it.

I like shells on my stock. Kinda want the pouch type.

Don't forget something to carry more rounds, but easy access! The US GI issue fould out molle pouch is great! Love mine, might need another. Holds 24 each, and rather compactly and securely.

Btw OP, I have a Hogue stock set on a M 500.

It's ok. It's light weight enough, maybe lighter than the factory stock set. For durability, I doubt it will break with my use, but not exactly a tank either. No torture test done. It feels good, nothing goofy. Very good traction on the rubber foregrip. More rubber on the grip of the stock. A thick recoil pad, just under an inch.

thinking about a shorter barrel
Ok, is this strictly for home defense/truck defense, hunting, etc. How long is it now (24"?) and how short do you want it to be? Do you want an extended magazine also? What kind of sights to you want? bead? rifle?

This may be what you want. it has a 20" barrel, rifle sights, and extended magazine.
MOSSBERG 500 HIGH CAPACITY SHOTGUN KIT - Brownells

You can go down to 18" (this is 18.5") if you don't need extra magazine capacity. bead sight.

BARREL, 18-1/2", PLAIN BEAD SIGHT, BLUE - Brownells

You can go less than that if you want to get a tax stamp for a short barrel shotgun.

But 18" is the minimum without the extra paperwork/taxes

ok ill bite whats the price diff found the set up for $80 how much for a mako
$80 nvm then I thought the Magpul fore end w/ light was $250 itself. Good deal then.

There is a Mako on eBay for $185ish, but keep in mind that it is a hydraulic buffer nor springs or rubber like ATI or Knoxx or that other one. Mako also will fit any standard AR-15 buttstock or Pistolgrip.
