I'm looking to put sling on my 870, but I'm not too comfortable with drilling hole in my synthetic stock. It sounds hollow inside and am looking for someone with helpful input. Does anyone have any experience drilling into synthetic stocks of some kind?

I've drilled holes for slings in synthetic stocks before. no problem. Just dont make the hole too big. I've also drilled into the stock on my 870 to attach a shell holder. No problem there either

I drilled a hole for the sling stud on my old stock.

It was a synthetic stock, and hollow. I just picked a drill bit slightly larger than the root of the thread, and drilled the hole. Then threaded the stud in without issue. Somebody here bought that stock, with the stud in it. It never gave me a problem, and I used the sling to hoist my 870 up into a tree for years. I think the sling studs have directions on the package for the proper size drill bit.
