We were shooting wobble trap and another friend came into the clubhouse with a shotgun for sale.

It was a Perazzi Comp 1 skeet gun with fixed chokes and ported. Around the early 1970s vintage.

Anyway, he wanted to know how much to ask for it so one of the guys pulled out the Blue Book of Gun Values which IIRC was the latest verion.

No mention at all of the Comp 1, not even under Ithaca which was the importer in those days.

I thought that was pretty strange as it's been in the book before. I know that because I also have a Comp 1, but mine's a pure trap gun, 32" barrels, fixed chokes IM/F

The blue book is only good for a target or door stop........It's data is obsolete as soon a s it's published.

That sounds about right to me. I took mine to the range a few years back and two different guys tried to buy it from me, both offered $3,500.00 and both approached me hours apart so I figured that was pretty much the going rate.

I still wonder why it dropped out of the Blue Book though.

Blue Book is a waste of time.

Yeah, but you've got to start somewhere. The guy selling it bought it in the early 1970s when he got back from Vietnam and had absolutely no idea what it was worth.
