H&R has been making that shotgun forever with no serious changes. I own a farily new youth model in 20ga for rabbit hunting. It could be old, or new. It doesnt look in that bad of shape except it needs some scrubbing to get rid of that surface rust. Mine's not that old, and I still have to give it a good coat of oil every now and then to keep it from rusting.

Enjoy!

your gun was made in 1981. Kind of odd to see a rear blade sight on a shotty. (unless thats a slug barrel)
I thought it was odd, too. It's got a 3" chamber with a smooth bore so it's definitely not a dedicated slug barrel. The rear blade does fold down and the front post could be used as a bead so my guess is it can be used for both. I am curious as to how accurate it is with rifled slugs. My shoulder's gonna hate me....
