Do you shoot your tacticool shotgun?

Doing some research on pricing for an upcoming 870 purchase and while I had some time I decided to check out the skeet range that's close to me. Stated right on their rules was "no rifle/pistol grip stocks". Kind of bummed as one of the mods I was going to do was the Knoxx and hoped it would work out for shoting skeet. Do many ranges have rules like this or is mine the only one?

FWIW, I know a pump isn't the shotgun of choice for shooting skeet, it's just something fun to do that doesn't cost a lot.

I shot trap with my Saiga 12 once so far. It was all stock setup but with a Poly-Choke II on the end. It has a 22 inch barrel, but the sights sit on top of the gas piston, so the sight plane is a bit short (a bit different from the 1100 sporting 12 I am used to.) I shot a 15 out of 25 with it, and will probably do better now that I know where it shoots.

Now it's all tricked out with the Tapco Intrafuse Collapsible Stock (which I added weight to for balance,) Cheek Riser, and Intrafuse Tri-rail Forend with a Magpul AFG (Angled Foregrip.) It got a lot of looks the first time. I'm sure it will get a lot of attention this time.

This Monday night I will be bringing it to Trap night to see if I can beat my last score. I will also try shooting sporting clays with it once I get a chance.
What's the point of having a firearm, "tacticool" or otherwise, if you don't shoot it?

Right, but I guess I meant in the sense that a lot of tactical setups seem to be for HD use, and wouldn't lend themselves to other applications very well without a barrel change at the least.
I shot trap with my tactical shotgun the other day, big difference from my Citori XT lol
OP....you might want to check with your gun club to verify that they are not referring to a PGO (pistol grip only) stock. Sometimes folks do not clearly communicate the difference....they say one thing and some folks assume the other. There is certainly a world of difference between a PGO stock and a stock with a pistol grip.

Good point. Since I had never been there before, I took a minute to familiarize myself with the rules and asked the lady behind the counter to confirm the "no pistol grip" rule, which she did. The thought never crossed my mind that they may be talking about PGO stocks and not something like a Knoxx since, well, I didn't think anyone in their right mind would try to shoot skeet with a PGO.

On the plus side, if they're going to blindly discriminate anything with a pistol grip, Blackhawk does make this:

Blackhawk Knoxx BreachersGrip Shotgun Stock available at LAPoliceGear. Knoxx Rifle and Shotgun stocks available!

I haven't read any reviews, however.
One of these things is not like the others...........

Sorry for the grainy photo. I snapped a pic of my Saiga 12 sitting in the gun rack while I was on my way out the door to score a squad on the trap field. I only shot 10 rounds out of it tonight (good turnout.) I hit 8 out ot 10 at 16 yard trap. Hopefully next week I will get to shoot a full round of 25.

Dare to be different.........

I would also disagree with the pistol grip being bad for clays - as in everything else it's just a preference. My buddies and I have gotten pretty good with our HD guns, even the guy with the PGO Mossy -

Not that it's something to make a habit of, but it's still fun as hell, and it seems to me if you can hit a small flying object, you can hit a guy in your living room. :D

I broke an 11/25 with my mossberg. I am a AA shooter with my XT.

A pistol grip by itself could be tricky, but as long as there is something to mount against your shoulder behind it, it would work fine for clays.

The picture I posted above with my Saiga 12 next to a bunch of trap guns shows that the configuration of a shotgun with a "standard" stock is already very similar in angle to a pistol grip. Unless you're using a straight "English" stock, which is straighter, the transition is almost unnoticeable (at least in the grip department.)
I shot a full round of trap with the Saiga 12 tonight. Much better results than the first time.

I shot a 23/25. Dropped two on the first station and ran the rest.

Now i'm itching to try sporting clays.
