I recently saw a youtube video where an old timer took a regular 2-3/4" shell with birdshot and cut almost entirely around the shell between the powder and the wad. The claim is that this propels the entire shell beyond the cut as one piece instead of a spread of tiny bb's.
It looks cool and like it works. I have read others saying it works and have seen a lot of naysayers talking about too much pressure etc, although all of these were from people who had never done it.
I have also heard that this was mentioned and shown in the Magpul Dynamics shotgun video by Chris Costa. In any event, it is pretty cool to have as an option when a slug is not available.
So my question is has anyone here ever done this? What were the results?
Here is the youtube link...
