I received a .410 Sizemaster as a gift, and found it was set up for 3” hulls. All of my hulls are 2.5”, so I fitted it with a short kit… only to find the resizing collet and depriving station are a hot mess. Hulls fall all the way through the collet, and the depriming pin doesn’t come close to reaching the bottom of the hull.

I attached a photo… any suggestions?

The decapping pin should reach the bottom of the hull with no problem if it was set up properly for 3" shells as the position of the spent primer in the collet is the same regardless of the length of the hull. I confirmed this when I put a short kit on my MEC 600Jr. years ago. No adjustments were necessary on decapping or priming or charging, just slight adjustments on the crimp starter and final crimp stations.

Have you tried decapping a 3" hull?
