To get enough emitters to make a circle it would probably be a substantial unit, and expensive.

What's wrong with a normal dot? Just thinking out loud, would it be possible to take a normal weapon light and put a dot of paint in the center. It should still illuminate fine, but give you a dim spot where the POA is. The right kind of translucent paint would give you a colored circle to aim at.

This is the closest thing i can find to what i am looking for so far.

It would actually be VERY easy to make a circular patterned laser sight. It would be like one of those laser pointers that draws a symbol.

The problem is, the spread. Once you run a holographic filter, the circle would get bigger as the range increases....which wouldnt work to well for shooting.

That's probably a good thing, if you want to use the circle to see where the pattern is going to be. The trick is making sure that the laser spreads the same as the shot. You'd need to change filters when you change chokes, too.

TruGlo makes a couple of scopes that have your choice of a green or red circle. These are not lasers but more of a holographic reflection when you look through the lens. The one I have represents a 2' circle at 30 yds. It is mounted on my 870 turkey gun.
