Anyone have any experience with carlson's breachers chokes. I was thinking of getting one installed on my Mossberg 500 cruiser. I just think it looks intimidating.

I just ordered one yesterday on line for my Mossy 20 inch turkey Tactical to convert it into HD weapon. It is sort of a bad idea to shoot 00 Buck through the XX factor turkey tube that comes on the gun.

Not really just for looks. This choke is made to shoot all loads. Slugs/00 buckshot/ steel shot loads/ all bird shot. Every thing you can get in 12ga. You can put it down the tube. When i called Carlson's they told me it was between a mod, choke and open choke. With 00buck you should get a pattern of about 2 inches at 25 feet and 8 inches at 50 yards, Plus the porting will help with muzzle rise and felt recoil by 50 %
My best friends mossberg 500 cruiser came with one on it.. As well as all the reasons listed above it is also made to dig into a door-jam and blow out the deadbolt or lock. I'm assuming with a heavy duty slug.
Ordered my choke, blackhawk spec-ops stock, and a Truglo TFO front sight.

Muzzle brake works well on a rifle but not on a shotgun. A shotgun shell doesn't generate enough pressure in the barrel like a rifle round does. You will notice very little if any difference in muzzle rise with a muzzle brake on a shotgun. None with felt recoil.

I'm sending mine off to Mike Orlean to get threraded. I want it just because I think it looks bada55.

Actually, no--a breaching round is usually a specially made frangible load--often powdered lead or tungsten.

Slugs have a nasty tendency to either come back at you, or going through the door and killin' folks that don't necessarily need killin' on the other side of the door.

As for putting one on a shotgun...yeah, I suppose if you want something that is pretty much useless but looks all "bada$$ oparata taktikool" hanging off your shotgun, go for it.

Personally--I wouldn't put one of those useless pieces of dreck on my shotgun if you paid me to.

Here is a rack of Military breacher shotguns. Some with breacher brakes and some without.

Here is mine. The brake has been internal welded on the barrel. The shotgun is a NEF Protector which is a very heavy, durable and well made shotgun.

I might have agreed with you before I tried a brake (a real one) on a saiga 12. What a difference. And also makes it MUCH louder. Like a sharp penetrating loud. WOW.

Choke just came in last night. Now to send it off for the install.
Finally sent my barrel to Mike Orlean last week. $47 and 10 days later(6 from the time it got delivered to him) I got the barrel back looks great. Didn't take long considering he is 900 miles away. If I knew how to post pics here I would show you. Now I just have to mount the new sight.
I got the 870 Express Tactical (pictured above) a few months ago. The choke looks BA, but I took it off immediately and replace it with a different choke. I'm not bustin down doors, and I want the barrel length as short as I can legally go for a HD shotgun.

I also have the same one pictured. What choke did you replace it with?

I like the choke it patterns buckshot well at 25yds in which is where I shoot it.
