Hey all,
I decided on the Remington 887 Nitro Mag Tactical, and my wife bought it for me for valentines day. I haven't had a chance to shoot it until recently. I had read some negative reviews about this gun on the internet. I think they were based on the longer barrel version, because this one is solid. There is a little bit of flex in the fore-arm because it is a composite, but that is all.
Well, I took her out to the range and ran the piss out of her. About 200 rounds of every kind of shell I had in my Ammo can. I ran Winchester, Remington, 2 3/4" buck, 2 3/4" Slugs, 3" buck, 3" slugs, 3 1/2" buck, 3 1/2" slugs. I ran them in the order that I grabbed them out of the ammo can, which was random. No hiccups at all.
Although the 3.5" slugs were a suprise to my shoulder, they did not affect the gun at all, she fed everything and kept on chugging. No difference in feeding between the shells.
She holds seven 2 3/4" shells in the tube and five 3 1/2"ers.
The front hi vis sight and full length vent rib makes shouldering and aiming the weapon very easy. The accessory rail made it simple to throw the EOTech on and hammer out a few rounds. The barrel never got more than warm to the touch, and the action is smooth as an 870. IN fact, if I were blindfolded I would have thought it was an 870, same weight.
I don't have my target to share because I gave it to a fella at the range who was new and didn't know he had to bring his own target/stand.
In all, I think you get a lot of shotty for the money.
