Been shopping for a home defense shotty for a while, was pretty much dead set on the 870 tactical with ghost ring sights ($479) until i found this bad boy ($449)

Remington 887 Nitro Mag Tactical.

Remington says it is based of of the legendary 870 action. I feel the action to be just as good as the 870, so i believe this statement. Online reviews of the longer barreled 887 seem to be mixed and some people have stated they are not fans of the 887.

I decided on the 887 because it is has a more comfortable slide release (front of trigger guard), takes 3 1/2" shells, i also like the big fore-end which reminds me of a benelli supernova. It has fiber optic front sight, 1913 rail that doubles as a rear sight, and a door breacher choke (just looks cool) the choke is a cylinder choke.

I like all the groves in the plastic. Seems like it would be easy to operate in wet conditions. Like the rail and fiber. Seems like way more gun for about the same price. Nice find.

Thanks all, I love her so. It was a valentines gift from my wife although she let me pick it out. (she got an xd9sc bi tone for her birthday, so were even now)

forgot to mention 18" bbl on this boom stick and capacity is 7+1 for 2 3/4" shells and 6+1 for 3" magnum shells. Dicks didn't have any 3 1/2" shells for me to play with.

Seems like that was what Remington was targeting (no pun intended). Supposedly, you could get this thing as wet as you want and it should never rust, since the polymer cladding is sealed to the metal below.

Should make an interesting boat gun as well, for those who operate in saltwater environments especially.

Tim, i gotta say.....i wanted an 870 tactical.....not anymore!!!!! that thing looks so freaking mean i just have to have it. awesome purchase.
Im stoked about it, I love the damn thing.

only problem people might run into is purchasing aftermarket parts for it. I am not sure if "Tactical" accessories that people want for the 870 will fit this thing.

I, for one, do not like pistol grips or AR stocks on shotguns so I am ok with this fact. Also, the little rail up front is perfect for a light mount and the little rail on top is perfect for any glass. I dont need anything else other than perhaps a sling or an elastic buttstock shell loop.
