This 870 Express was my first gun I purchased when I was 15 (19 years ago). I used to hunt a LOT and this gun did it all for me - deer, small game, and birds.

Now, I haven't hunted in years and it was just sitting in a case doing nothing, so I decided to remove the wood laminate furniture and make it a HD weapon.

Additions are:
Knoxx recoil reducing stock
Wilson Combat mag extension, spring, & follower
Remington 18.5" barrel
Mesa forend

I'll probably add a light in the future but the lack of funds is holding me back. I thought about adding a side saddle, but I think I'll leave it like it is.

I like that forend! All you need now is a side saddle. They are a VERY nice thing to have. Just use outdoor double sided tape when you do. The mounting bolt on my Mossberg 500 stripped when I was at a 4 day Tac Shotgun course at Front Sight.

Also, I would strongly suggest taking your shotgun out to the range and shooting it a couple of times with that knoxx stock and see how you like it prior to throwing away the receipt. When I was at the above mentioned course, myself and 6 other people who had the same stock returned it. The recoil goes straight into your cheek bone and hurts only after a few rounds of buck! Just my two cents.

The Knoxx stock can bite your cheek bone. I have one on my 870 turkey gun, bought it to tame those dreadful 3.5" turkey loads (way worse than buckshot), and it works well. I have a red dot optic and it allows you to keep your face a little further away.

I took it to the range after I added everything to make sure everything functioned as it should. And it did. I did read that if you have the stock collapsed too close to the receiver, you can get a cheek pop. I keep mine in the second position and it's been fine. I only shoot 2-3/4 shells through it. I tested 00 buck and some old bird shot I've had for years.

Also, I bought the stock second hand from a gentleman on this site. For what I paid, if I don't like it I can easily make my money back. But so far I do like it.

I had the KNOXX on my 870. You need the Power Pak cheek piece. No more cheek slap with that thing. I had cheek slap with mine until I installed it.
