Dog photo's
haven't seen any on here. someone must have dog's. I've got three now. Just brought home a Red Setter pup to go with my two e. Setters.

Took some new photo's of Stormy and though I'd add one here.

Nice looking setters. Are you finding any birds? We don't have many quail left in West Tennessee, so I have to buy some to put out to get the dogs some work.
Here's a few pics of my dogs:

Nice looking dog's! Birds near home are about a thing of the past. There are pocket's of chukar but number's are really down so I hear. Can walk chukar country much any more. There are some Hun's but 120 mi trip to get to them. Hard to do on SS. Have a few quail left out in the pen, love them but these are old and don't fly much at all anymore. For next year I'm going to find me a bunch of day old Quail again or maybe chukar. Like the quail best because they aren't native here, don't need any proof I own them if checked. Do manage a preserve near here once or twice a year. Taking family with me on two trips this year, I'm the only one in the family with bird dogs!

'It's sad to live in the area I do and have next to no birds around. Down on the John Day by the river there's a couple small covey's of quail the past pew years but this year, no contact with them. Up the hill beside the river there's been a small covey of hun's the past few years. Haven't shot any out of them but doesn't seem to help. Maybe there's other's going in when I'm not there. Problem seem's to be that the cheat has been pretty much wiped out by a weed called methuselah. Need the cheat for the birds. used to be a lot of pheasants down there but a state wide newspaper had their outdoor editor do a couple article's on Clarno, best kept secret in Ore. Well for the next several years everybody in the state showed up for their share. Relatively small piece of land and couldn't take the pressure; Clarno is now a game bird waste land.

On the good side, I have permission to use a local ranch and makes a good place to plant birds for the dog's. Adult chukar here cost $9 each or $17 on a preserve. Pays to get your own birds.

I love the chukar hills but can't do them anymore, really bad knees. But I caan still do the easy stuff and don't care so much about the kill anymore but love watching my dog's work.

Got a couple new photo's of my Stormy.

Stormy's dad on point. Shooting dog stake in Wash.
Don't have a good photo of his mom. I always judge the shooting dog. Friend got stormy's dad for me. Mom was the 2010/2011 Region 10 Shooting Dog of the year. Blew my mind first time I watched her.

Hey treedaddy. Found this photo of Brownlee res. over on the snake river. From the last trip I made there about four years ago.

This one is from up on top where a couple friends took off walking. Would have liked to do it but knee's won't carry me to well any more.

Wow. Great looking country. I would love to try chukar hunting one day, but that would be a long drive from Tennessee. I go to South Dakota every year
to hunt pheasant and grouse. I have found a few coveys of huns through the years and that was fun.
Here's a few South Dakota pics:

New photo of Stormy I really like.

Sleepy time!

That has got to be a lap dog! I could imagine watching a ball game on TV with him on my lap! Most all dogs are good dogs, they make us better people.

You have some mighty nice looking dogs. I had a Weimaraner dog when I was younger. It came from champion lines. That dog would watch me and with a hand gesture it would move the direction I indicated for it to move. She was such a good hunter. I did not train this dog to do this. It just knew to do it.

This is my first attempt at photos, these are two of my pups, both were adopted. They rescued me from myself. Monte is on the left and has gone on to the big beyond. Cobie is an adopted guy from Tennessee and rules the roost here in Florida. Hunting? No, however Monte would bring home squirrels all by his lonesome. Cobie was a formerly abused pup. He's smiling now, wouldn't you agree?

Rainbow Bridge
2 Attachment(s)
I also have some friends waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge; Ginger (Yellow Lab) and Rusty (Miniature Poodle). Kota (Setter) was just a pup in the photo and is now an active Senior Citizen.

The Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

2016 Grouse Hunt, Baxter State Park- Maine
2 Attachment(s)
Otto (Indaba's Field and Stream) and Jetta (Indaba's Persuasion) locate a grouse along an old logging trail in Baxter State Park. Indaba's Weimaraner's are bred to the original German standards - a truly loyal and versatile hunting dog.

Got the bird with my late Dad'a JP Sauer Model 60 20 gauge. It's a quick handling shotgun with Skeet1/Skeet 2 chokes.

RedRiverII 03-12-2017 05:05 AM

Thanks DAR. I remember being comforted by that Rainbow Bridge story. I have a few buddies waiting also.

Not a lot of quail left in middle Tennessee either. We plant them for the boys.

trail twister 06-17-2017 06:35 AM

My Vizla Daisy, a runt rescued so she would not be put down. She was a hunting dog not just birds.

My springer Bosco, a hard headed male a rescued from the pound pup.

My yellow lab Jewel, rescued pound pup a back up to Daisy and Bosco and a want to be lap dog.

This a chocolate lab Chip, wife bought for our son despite my objections he would not take care of her. I proved right and took care of her. She was gun shy but once you got her calmed down would retrieve birds all day long.

All four of the above are waiting for me to join them at a later date. We did have some great times while they were with me.

Last spring the wife felt I once again need a hunting dog. So after rejecting many as to costly or having bobbed tails I allowed her buy me a Ryman Style English setter. She also bought me a pair on new knees spread over the summer so I could keep up with the pup.

We named her stormy, born during a major snow storm where 14 inches of snow fell. We had been having 60F and 70F temps for a month, when we went to look at her the high for the day was 40F with a wind chill of 29F. The day we went to pick her up to bring her home it rained all the way to the kennel and all the way back home.

Since I was recovering from knee surgery all summer I was not able to work with her as a pup. that was left up to my Kare who has different Ideas from mine.

I live in what in the 1960's was considered the pheasant capital of Michigan. Those days are long gone and no effort by the DNR to restore those days either.
Only pheasants I see today are raised by a friend who plants them for his own pleasure.

20 degrees, a little wind, a little snow, a couple of roosters, a 16 gauge shotgun and my GSP May. Life doesn't get any better and I don't need it to.

This is from Alabama back in 2015 when I was lucky to be invited to a private hunt for quail. The small dog was amazing to watch her work.

Been a while since I've been on the site. Computer blew a gasket and I couldn't remember all the sites I was on. I lost my Bodie Jan 11, 2017, boy I miss him. Squirt is getting old now, 11 this year and getting stove up with arthritis. Stormy has really come on for me. In fact so well that rather than a GSP for my last dog, I've got a R. Setter pup on order for next spring. Well that still could turn into a R. Setter and a GSP puppy, loved my GSP's. got a few new photo's of Stormy, fairly recent. First one he's point a set up I put out with two birds in it. Second is him watching the first bird fly away. Third is the second bird flying away.

He's is really quite a dog, one of the best!

Love looking at dog photo's!

Don Fischer 12-27-2019 09:08 AM

Six years later and another Red Setter, Sis. Got her in Minnesota in May; flew back to get her. This will probably be my last dog at my age, just worry about her out living me!

Really loving this little girl. She's really sweet!

Don Fischer 01-24-2020 10:48 AM

No new dog photo's since 2018! That's terrible. so here's my new one, Sis.Went back to Minnesota to get her. Couldn't stand the idea of her in the cargo hold of a plane over three hours so flew back and brought her home in the cabin! Really a nice pup, ten months now! I think she's gonna make a nice dog though! Ordering in about 100 day old chukar this spring, planted birds are about all there is to hunt around here anymore.

Let's see some more dog's!

Buckshot The Traveling Pointer. :)
Ive been all over the country with this dog over the last 10 years. Loved every minute out there with him. From South Dakota,to Arizona, Washington, Oregon, and home country in Lewiston Idaho. Dropping California, Gamble, Scale and Mearn quail, chukar, pheasant, ruffled and blue grouse, huns and dove. We've had a ball over the years. We'll be heading to Owyhee Wilderness area this year in search of a new chukar haven.
Buckshots been with me through thick and thin, good times and bad. Truly the best companion ive ever had over the years. At 12 years old come this hunting season, I know hes on the down hill slide rolling fast. I keep telling him "Thanks for another year." "Thanks For all the memories you've given me." I didnt pick this dog. He chose me on a cool january morning 11 years ago in Lincoln Nebraska. Trained by Nationally recognized trainer Jim Keller ( RIP 10-4-2016 ) of Keller Gun Dogs. I Truly have been blessed to be a part of this dogs life.

for those who enjoy moving pics... please feel free to check out any of our travels.

Thanks for letting me reminisce with you guys
