WOW! Resurrecting this old thread. "This ol' Mossy" is pretty much done. 30" fixed full choke (to handle the Trap duties) w/28" ported threaded chokes in standby. Slicked up the action with some very very fine grease in key spots. Just a tiny bit of polishing to smooth out the action a bit more.

Now, the wood ain't handsome, no nice grain, just plain jane. I'm thinking of a flashy paint job. Any ideas? Metallic? Metal flake? Gloss for sure.

Waddaya think?

do you refinish a hammer handle? or wax a skilsaw after use?
its a tool.
the more money you dump in it, the more careful you become worrying about it and you get distracted.

but with that said, wood deserves a wood finish. do it right.

I was kinda leaning that way. Dark stain and a gloss finish. :-)

is the rest of the gun beat up too? if so...leave it all old looking. it gives the gun character and leads people to think you wore it out practicing. :>

The receiver and barrel are pretty sweet. No scratches or dings. The wood does have a little bit of figuring, so I think a strip and refinish will be the order of the day.

oneounce- I had kinda been thinking about that. Maybe some Navy Blue and Gold and a flag, but, like bob, I'm a sucker for a wood finish. I might look for a messed up stock at the gunshow for something to play with that idea.
