Pumpkinball

First time posting, guys.......I’m not looking for accuracy, FPS, etc. just familiarizing myself with tools and gaining some working knowledge. I just cut open some Winchester Game and Target Universal 12 gauge shotshells to load with pumpkinball made from the original shot. They are 2-3/4”, 1-1/8oz shot. The issue I’m having is after roll crimping, the ball is sticking out of the top about 1/8”. Not good for playing well with the other shells in the tubular magazine on my 870. Thoughts?

My educated guess is that they'll work fine.

Ammo made to work in lever action rifles has rounded bullets for the reason that if they were pointed they may set off the round in front due to recoil. Rounded noses work fine for eliminating this problem.

What does your ball weigh? you could try a few different wads and see if you can get a better wad column fit...

Let see your 480 grs is just under 1 1/8 OZ. of weight {there's 437.5 grs. in a OZ} that's 492grs for 1 1/8th OZ. you could use fiber filler wads and card wads to make up the wad column to make the length just right..

Thanks for the boost of confidence packrat! I’m also trying the same wads in Monarch hulls with overshot cards under and above the uncut wads. Seems to be a pretty good fit...now if I could only perfect the roll crimping. Not as easy as it looks on youtube.
