Question Creating 20 gauge buckshot rounds

Hey guys,

With the ammo shortage I'm having an impossible time finding 20 gauge buckshot rounds, so I figured I'd create my own if possible. I've never done reloads before, so I have a lot of questions (some probably newbie ones but so be it)

What tools would I need?
What are your favorite material sellers (shells, wads, shot, the works)?
Is it impossible/illegal to make combos like #2 buck surrounded by birdshot to fill the gaps?
Where exactly can I find more info on specs?

You need to buy a book on shotshell reloading, it will answer a lot of your questions,
the Lyman Shotshell Handbook is a good one....

24 pellets of #4 buck in a 20 gauge sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

Welcome from Florida!
Buy the Lyman book and a few others; you have a LOT to learn. Personally, reloading components are now also VERY hard to find. I would use Ammoseek.com to look for ammo and when you find it, buy it before someone else does. Unless you plan on loading hundreds or thousands of rounds, buying equipment and components will cost more than finding some slightly overpriced ammo.

Since we have no idea where you are, it is impossible for us to possibly steer you to local sources in your area.

Sadly I'm in Illinois

I've been watching a bunch of sites and even have in stock alerts turned on at many, but 20 gauge buck never seems to show up

WOW! May be I should pour a pile of those and start reloading them.

Even the molds are out of stock.

Look for a Muzzle loader rendezvous, I see all that stuff there in Friendship Indiana every time I go there.

Looks like these guys have some molds left. Better jump on it if you want them. I have the #4 and 00.

Are you getting email or text alerts? Make sure it is a text alert and you buy immediately.
I have heard stores in Wisconsin seem to have ammo, you might also enquire in whatever states you're close to.

Is there a Cabela's/Bass Pro Shops close to you.? They do not seem to have a shortage of ammo. Right now they have a sale on shot shells and guns and hunting.. Aug. 6-26 any way in our two Cabela's/Bass pro Shops stores in Utah.
