I am retired so I do whatever comes to mind on any particular day. Funny thing is I still look forward to weekends.

I retired for the first time Jan 1st 2008... Painted the garage TWICE . Once in January and once in February. Started a P/T job delivering parts for an auto parts store 3 days a week. Retired again in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018.... Then I cut back to 2 days a week. Now when I tell Mrs. One eye that I am going to work she says... "That's not work that is a hobby !"

i will turn 62 in April. My finance guy says I can retire then. Instead of rising at 4:00 AM and preparing to go to work, I will probably rise at 4:00 AM and get my shop opened up here at home instead. Life isn't a spectator sport.

One of my shooting buds is retired Army (Colonel) so getting up at 4AM is hos norm, even after all these years retired from the military. As a result, when we meet up to go shoot sporting, he wants to start at 8:15 so he can be done by 10 and home by 11, since he goes to bed at 7:30.................
Now I wake up about 3-4AM but not because I want to......old guys know why.....

You be sure to have that "Old Guys Know Why" reason checked!
I had the same issue and it turned out to be the "Big C"... Got that all taken care of (at least I hope so) Now I get it checked twice a year !

What I find bad about holidays is I don't know anymore when they get here, yea, retired. Really bad to go out to a favorite place for some quiet fishing and find half the state showed up to play around also! Don't know what was with yesterday. Went up to the Ochocos to hunt for grouse and again, never saw one. But must have run into 400 people up there! ruined day!

I have gotten out a couple of times for doves this year, but we have so much to do around our little farm before winter it is hard to get away. I was pleasantly surprised to find my old haunts pretty much devoid of people, seems not so many people here are hunting anymore. Fine with me, they can drive their quads, side by sides, snowmobiles, and jet skies till the cows come home, so long as the walk-in places are still there. Got into a whole pack of young doves last time out, saw a small boatload of deer, and raised havoc with my old Remington M17 20 gauge pump. Good company, good walk, good day.
