Clay Target Throwers - warning

If you have a target thrower similar to mine, let me pass on a tip I learned yesterday.

Take OFF that clay target magazine on top any time you are moving the machine around. 20 years I've been using mine here at home and taking it to shoot at friends houses. Yesterday I started having the very first ever problem with it not dropping the next clay properly.

It seemed those screws at the top of the bars of the magazine were loose but in fact, leaving it on the machine most of the time here at home and moving it around the yard and in and out of the barn, has caused it to wear out and ruin those little bolt in "nubs" they slide down over to made the clay holder to the top plate of the machine.

20 years and that is the only problem I've ever had with this. I don't even remember the brand or company it is. Sort of looks like the Do-All machines they sell today but those parts are not in their list of replacement parts available.

So far, I've learned that it is a Champion, Easy Bird machine and I'm trying to get in contact with Champion about some spare parts.

I got responses and help just for the asking from both Do-All and Atlas equipment. Quick and very responsive. I've got email and facebook messeges to Champion at their web page and facebook page with no response yet.

Got an email from Champion, then a phone call, and parts are said to be on the way, all free of charge.

On a 20 year old machine, I call that darn good service.

Got my parts from Champion last Friday afternoon!

Haven't had time yet to try putting it all together but soon. May be tomorrow.

Finally got time to work on that machine yesterday and got it all fixed up. Tried it out today and ran a 100 targets through it with out a single problem. I'm sold on Champion traps!

Now spend $65.00 for the electric remote. You can hang it around your neck and walk anywhere within a 60 yard circle of the trap and shoot. I have a 3 sec delay on mine so I can drop the remote(its on a cord around my neck) and raise my gun to shoot. MUCHO FUN! My high & low house Champions run by remote.

My son is supposed to be taking care of that for me.

For now I cut the cord on my foot trap and put extension cord ends on it so I can put a cord or TWO on it if I want. I'm pretty happy with just that much. I use the cord as a rough measure to lay out my skeet and trap fields and then mow the grass short in the lanes.

I'd like to have one of those oscillator options for it though.
