Bad relationship with a 555

I am currently coming off of a bad experience with a 555. After one trip back for repair and one where it was replaced with a new one and the new one also failed to fire after just a few rounds of trap.

The GOOD NEWS is they have offered a full credit toward a new Stevens/Savage of my choice. I liked the 555 and shot it well but couldn't tolerate it being unreliable. I have read somewhere that the 555e has better quality and machining but I am tired of savage/stevens customer support.

Is there anybody out there that has had a 555e that had served them well through many years or should I just look at their rifles? TIA.

(I think I know the answer already but thought I would ask.)

My friend has a 410 bore 555(don't know suffix) that he bought 2 years ago to shoot skeet and doves. It's never ever malfunctioned.

Same. I have a 555 in 410 and it's been reliable for since I got it, over 500 rounds ago.

Now if I could just find aftermarket chokes for it.

I did. Either they can modify one of mine (open it up) or try to match/custom make one but $$$

I'll spend as much on chokes as I did on the gun lol
