New to Shotty's and Idaho

Hey All,

Been wanting to get into shooting clays and just bought my first shotgun. A Mossberg 500. Also, recently moved from Chicago to the Boise area and trying to figure out where I can go shoot. I hear Blacks Creek range and Boise Gun Club are probably the best bet.

Is it best to bring my own clays or do people usually have to buy whatever the range sells? Also, if I show up alone, can I have an entire stand to myself or is that frowned upon?

Anyway, I've always heard of people having a blast shooting clays and ultimately upland game/waterfowl hunting, I figure I take an interest and see what it's all about.

You'll soon learn that "shotty" is usually reserved for use by juvenile video game commandos and that "shotgun" is preferred

https://www.claytargetsonline.com/idaho/

That is a list of clay target clubs in Idaho. The club supplies the clays - go to Walmart for ammo until you get a better feel for things - no more than 1-1/8oz of 7.5......1oz of 8s will do what you want with less recoil.

If you show up alone and explain that you are new, I am sure they will provide some folks to help you out and explain how things are done.

SAFETY first and always - eyes and ears, gun unloaded until on station, etc.

Good luck and good for you escaping the communism of Chicago!
