1957 Merkel 200E 12ga O/U with Ivory Inlay

I am a collector here in Connecticut and I have come across a very nice 1957 Merkel 200E 12ga O/U with Ivory Inlay which I purchased. I was doing initial research and came across this forum with a Merkel section.

I was hoping any of you could share any information you all have on the commonality of ivory inlay Merkels, and potential sources for comparable sales to aid in appraisal / valuation.

I have attached a few images of the shotgun.

Howdy from FL! Very nice post-war work

Doing Google search, your post comes up first followed by an auction from J Juila for one even more exotic. My understanding is that because of the ivory, there will need to be some documentation that this is pre-ban ivory.
Hope another member here can give you more than that.

Yours is the first Merkel that I have seen with ivory inlays - but then, I have only been a Merkel fan for about 15 years now, since I bought my two sxs guns. Sure would like to find a nice 200 series o/u in 16ga with two triggers, sans ivory or any other inlays, I can't afford that stuff.
PS - Where are my manners? Welcome to the forum!

My research continues... I am told that ivory inlays are not uncommon on Merkels and that they can be seen in the Merkel Luxus catalog. That being said, it is rare to see them on the low end 200's - usually the ivory inlay would go along with higher end engraved receivers. I have send emails to the Merkel in hopes of getting more information as to whether this was a factory special order or the handiwork of some gunsmith along the way... This is my second Merkel - I have the exact gun sans inlays in 20ga.
