Nice gun - but way over-priced IMO.

A gun writer friend saw Lou r4ecently at the Southern SxS and was getting the feeling from the discussion that the high-end gun business was in trouble enough it may either scale back or go away. I guess they can't keep up with the demand for their DP-12 and some 1911 (didn't know they made one). THAT would be interesting to see if that comes to fruition.

The youngsters with money want simple elegance or completely over the top with nothing in between. The simple ones want to be able to see and understand the value (not just the catch phrase "we use time honored tradition") and are willing to pay to get it so long as they know what they are paying for. The over the top don't care about quality, they just want bling and have a disposable mentality. In the end we know which usually wins out, but with society as a whole going disposable the other side is shrinking. It sucks to see it happening. I had one of my wife's older cousins (20 years my Sr.) arguing with me that it makes more sense to buy a $250-300 shotgun and just get a new one every 6 months to a year than it does to buy a decent one and not have to again. I have an aunt who thinks it's cheaper to use paper plates for every meal than to own dishes. It terrifies me and drives me nuts at the same time!

Sure but my hands are callused and I can hitch a horse or rig a team of them. Most of the time I feel born to the wrong generation and I force myself to remember that the good Lord has a plan and me here for a reason. If I had my choice I would like to think that being born about 1890 would have suited me better. But still the disposable and entitled mentality eludes me and drives me nuts.
