A 5 pricing

I recently inherited a 1957 Belgium A 5 that is in excellent condition. I cleaned & test fired it. as expected it would not cycle light loads & did cycle heavier loads. since I do not really have much use for this gun I've decided sell it to help finance buying an over & under. i looked around gunbroker & prices are all over the place. so realistically what are these guns worth? the only damage on this gun is on the butt plate.

site says i can only post 5 photos so i'll post a 2nd thread.

Poly Choke, although great in their day is a big minus. $500 +/-.

All poly chokes were after market. Poly Choke was a stand alone company. The barrel can be sawed off behind the poly choke. But the you make it more useless as it will have no choke at all.
The guns were pre choke tube............Winchester invented the screw in choke tube in 1959......However it took years before it caught on. Now every mfg. is on the band wagon. All the old guns were fixed coke.

I thought about that after I posted. I guess poly choke it is. I was checking the pattern last week & the poly choke actually does a good job. it adjust from wide open down to extra full & extra full really is EXTRA full. this is a nice gun but I do not need another gun safe queen.

Nonetheless, the 1957 date is really good.

I have a pair of Browning A-5's (12 and 20) that my grandfather ordered in 1960 (I have the original paperwork):
